Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), is a Schedule "C" Miniratna Category II Central Public Sector Enterprise, registered under Section 8 (Not for Profit Motive) of the Companies Act 2013, is functioning under the administrative Control of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Disability Affairs. It is a 100% owned Govt. of India Central Public Sector Enterprise. The Corporation is serving the noble cause of manufacturing various types of cost effective ISI marked Aids & Assistive Devices for last 41 years. The Mission of the Corporation is not only to restore the Dignity of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) but also to cater the needs of Orthopedic impairment, Hearing impairment, Visual Impairment and Intellectual Development across the length and breadth of the country under various Government Schemes, CSR projects of Corporate sector particularly PSUs by utilizing MP LAD funds, State Governments, National Institutes, Dealer network, NGOs etc.. In last 41years of journey of the Corporation, it has served around 42 Lakhs PwDs so far.
The corporation has registered a phenomenal growth of 42% in 2011-12 which has increased to 58% in 2012-13. This has been achieved with the total teamwork at all levels in the Corporation.
The Corporation has drawn an ambitious plan for 12th Five Year which includes modernization of its plant and services with the help of Transfer of Technology to develop the most cost effective Artificial Limbs and Assistive Devices. The Corporation has already kick started the modernization plan with the investment of over Rs. 13 Crores during last financial year.
I take this endeavor to thank the entire group of stake holders, (Department of Disability Affairs of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Human Resource Development, All the State Project Directors and their IED Coordinators, Central PSEs who have made ALIMCO as their CSR Implementation Partner, Corporate Sector, WHO, ICRC, National Institutes, Dealers, Fabricating Agencies, NGOs, Prominent Activities working for the cause of Disability Sector, all the State Governments and others) who have helped ALIMCO, in achieving this phenomenal performance. I also thank the entire team of ALIMCO employees, without whose support it would not have been possible. I wish all stake holders and well-wishers of ALIMCO a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.
